Shade Auto Smooth - missing in Blender 4.1?

Shade Auto Smooth - missing in Blender 4.1?

Shade Auto Smooth is, or rather was, a very convenient combo of Shade Smooth + Auto Smooth, two options that you’d have to choose previously to get the result of sharp edges being preserved, while everything else got smoothed out.

Now in Blender 4.1 (Which is coming out in mere days) there are some changes. It wouldn’t be Blender, otherwise! For one, the panel in the Normal options where you can set the angle value for sharpness to be preserved, is just gone. Instead, we have a geometry nodes modifier that gives us non-destructive control over the shading.

You can still manually mark Edges as Sharp and let the modifier either incorporate or ignore those, for more control. There’s still a destructive option as well, which now also gives us marked sharp Edges.
